Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as folk and alternative rock and pop, however she also draws influences of hip-hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as a female icon and Grammy-winning artist is considered the creator of DIY music. It was one of the pioneers to create her own label in 1990. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in the city of Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who met Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was originally from Montreal. Ani DiFranco sang and wrote 32 Flavors.
